The Municipality of Quito has opened a system that allows residents to reserve parking spaces in municipal lots through a monthly payment.
The option is aimed at frequent users, particularly in high-demand areas such as La Carolina and the Historic Center.
To qualify, applicants must meet at least one of the following conditions:
- Live near the parking facility
- Work in the area
- Own or operate a business nearby
The process requires submitting an application during designated periods. Once approved, users sign a contract and pay a monthly fee to secure a fixed space.
Rates vary depending on location. In areas like La Carolina, monthly costs are around USD 40, while in other zones they can reach between USD 60 and USD 70.
Available municipal parking locations include:
- Carolina
- San Blas
- La Ronda
- El Tejar
- Bicentenario
- Quitumbe
Assignments are based on demand and availability at each site.
The system is designed to give drivers a guaranteed parking spot, reducing the need to search for space in busy parts of the city. Municipal parking facilities also offer extended hours and automated payment systems.
