Residents in northern Quito reported power outages on the afternoon of April 23, 2026, affecting several neighborhoods and key areas of the city.

The disruptions began around 3:00 p.m., with outages reported in La Carolina, Bellavista, and nearby zones. Affected areas include La Pradera, San Salvador, the EPIC Building, and sections of Avenida Eloy Alfaro between San Salvador, Los Shyris, Bosmediano, and surrounding streets.

Utility crews were deployed to restore service, focusing work on underground electrical systems. Officials indicated that power would be restored تدريجually but did not provide a specific timeline.

Similar outages were also reported in Sangolquí, where response teams were assigned to address the issue.

Power interruptions like these have become more frequent in recent weeks. Authorities maintain that there is no shortage of electricity generation, but acknowledge ongoing maintenance needs within the transmission network.
