A person died Wednesday morning after a traffic accident in southern Quito, part of a series of incidents reported across the city.
The fatal crash occurred around 6:59 a.m. at the intersection of Pedro Vicente Maldonado Avenue and S50 in the Nueva Aurora sector. A truck went off the road, and emergency responders confirmed one death at the scene.

Authorities closed the westbound lane of the S50 while investigative and utility crews worked at the site.
Two additional accidents were reported the same morning. In the north of the city, a motorcyclist was involved in a crash near the Plaza de Toros at the intersection of Amazonas Avenue and Cofanes Street. The injured person received medical attention, and one lane was temporarily closed.
Another incident occurred near the Ruta Viva in the Lumbisí area, where a motorcyclist was injured. Traffic toward the airport was affected during the response.
Emergency services, including transit authorities, firefighters, and police, responded to all three incidents.
Officials are urging drivers to exercise caution, particularly during peak morning hours.
