Authorities in Quito closed four establishments in the south of the city after a control operation uncovered drugs, illegal liquor, and other violations.
The inspections took place early Sunday in the Quitumbe and Eloy Alfaro sectors, targeting a mix of nightclubs, hostels, liquor stores, and a gambling venue.
Officials reported multiple irregularities inside the closed locations, including unauthorized artisanal alcohol, drug doses, and gas tanks stored inside rooms used for lodging.
- Four establishments closed in Quitumbe and Eloy Alfaro
- Drugs and illegal liquor found during inspections
- Around 50 people checked during the operation
- Two individuals arrested on outstanding warrants
Authorities also found figures of Santa Muerte in some of the establishments, a symbol authorities say has been linked to criminal groups.
In total, at least 14 businesses were inspected as part of the operation, which forms part of ongoing enforcement efforts in the area.
