A traffic accident on the General Rumiñahui Highway left one person dead on the afternoon of May 4 in the Conocoto area, east of Quito.
The crash occurred near bridge 8 on the Quito–Valles route. Emergency crews responded to the scene and provided care to two injured individuals.
One fatality was confirmed.
Traffic in the area was affected, with partial lane closures in place as responders worked at the scene. Drivers reported significant congestion along the highway.
