A nighttime crash into a utility pole left parts of Conocoto and surrounding areas without electricity on April 24, affecting multiple sectors in southeastern Quito.
The outage was reported around 10:00 p.m., with residents in several neighborhoods suddenly losing power. Among the affected areas were Lucas Tipán Street, sections of General Rumiñahui Avenue between bridge 5 and bridge 8, Hospital Citadel, Charles Darwin, Armenia 1 and 2, La Paz, La Libertad, and Los Arupos.
The disruption was traced to a vehicle collision with a pole in Conocoto, which caused the service interruption across roughly 10 sectors.
Electric company crews were dispatched to the area to begin repair work and restore service. No timeline was given for full recovery, but efforts were underway through the night.
The incident added to ongoing concerns about power reliability, as residents continue to report outages affecting different parts of the region.
