A bakery in Quito has been closed after a customer reported finding a razor blade inside a loaf of bread.

The incident came to light when a woman purchased chocolate bread and discovered the blade while eating. She said it caused pain in her mouth and raised concerns about what could have happened if it had been swallowed.
Authorities carried out an inspection of the bakery and ordered its closure. During the review, officials determined that the razor blade had been used to score the bread during preparation.
In a separate action, another bakery in Carapungo was also closed due to serious hygiene concerns identified during inspections.
Health officials are encouraging the public to report similar issues, emphasizing the importance of oversight in food preparation and safety.
