Several online services operated by Quito’s Metropolitan Transit Agency (AMT) will be temporarily unavailable between the evening of May 8 and the morning of May 9 due to scheduled maintenance on the agency’s technological infrastructure.
The maintenance period will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and continue until 9:00 a.m. Saturday. During those 15 hours, users may experience intermittent outages across the AMT system.
The agency said the work is intended to strengthen cybersecurity standards and help guarantee operational continuity.
Among the services expected to be unavailable are:
• Payment orders
• Appointment scheduling
• Vehicle registration procedures
The announcement comes amid growing concerns in Ecuador over alleged data leaks involving public institutions connected to identity and transit records.
Recent alerts circulating on platforms that monitor cybercrime forums have claimed that large amounts of personal and vehicle data may have been extracted from national databases, including information allegedly linked to the National Transit Agency and Civil Registry systems.
The AMT said the maintenance is part of broader efforts to protect and stabilize its digital services.
Drivers and residents who need to complete procedures through the agency are being advised to plan ahead and avoid waiting until the maintenance window begins.
