A police operation in southern Quito led to the arrest of four people accused of stealing vehicle parts, breaking into homes, and carrying out assaults.
The raids took place in the early hours of April 22, 2026, in the Eloy Alfaro district, following an investigation that began in January. Officers searched multiple locations and seized car parts, cash, cell phones, clothing, and other items believed to be connected to the group’s activities.
Investigators believe the suspects are tied to a branch of a larger criminal organization operating in the south of the city.
The arrests come amid a series of recent operations targeting similar groups. On April 17, another intervention in the Quitumbe district resulted in 23 arrests across six sectors. Earlier, on April 10, operations in Pomasqui and Comité del Pueblo led to 33 arrests, with weapons and explosives recovered.
Authorities are continuing efforts to dismantle organized crime networks across Quito.
Separately, a nighttime curfew is scheduled to take effect from May 3 to 18 in Quito and across Pichincha, as part of broader security measures.
