Authorities confiscated 3,392 personal hygiene and cleaning products from a retailer in the San Roque area of central Quito after uncovering multiple irregularities.
The inspection found that expired items were being displayed alongside products still within their valid dates. Some items showed signs of tampering, including packaging where expiration dates had been removed or altered to keep them on sale.
Among the seized goods were shampoo sachets suspected of being counterfeit, expired liquid soap containers, and antiseptic alcohol labeled with health registration numbers that did not match the actual products.
The findings triggered an administrative health process to determine responsibility and possible penalties under current regulations.
The operation was carried out in coordination with a specialized police unit focused on customs and tax-related crimes.
