Emergency crews searching for a missing man discovered a body in a ravine inside Quito’s Metropolitan Park, prompting a separate investigation.

  • Body found around 7:00 p.m. on April 12
  • Located in a ravine behind the park, wrapped in sheets
  • Remains described as advanced decomposition
  • Authorities confirmed it is not Gregory Krupa

Police responded to reports of a deceased person in the park and located the body in dense undergrowth. Initial observations indicate the remains belong to a man and were in an advanced state of decomposition.

The discovery was made during ongoing search efforts for Gregory Krupa, a foreign national reported missing on April 9. Authorities have ruled out any connection between the body and the missing person.

Search teams had been working in the area when they came across the remains, leading to the police response and recovery operation.

At this stage, the identity of the deceased has not been confirmed, and the cause of death remains undetermined.

The search for Gregory Krupa continues.
