A 46-year-old woman was arrested in Quito after an investigation uncovered alleged child sexual exploitation involving her own grandchildren.

The operation took place on April 5, 2026, in the Calderón sector in the north of the city. Authorities raided a home where four minors—three children and a teenager—were found living in precarious conditions and without adequate food.

The woman, identified as Martha R., was responsible for their care and has no prior criminal record.

Investigators determined that she allegedly exploited the minors and offered them through social media. The encounters were said to have taken place either inside the home or at other locations where the victims were taken.

During the raid, authorities seized:

  • Three cell phones
  • Five deposit slips

The woman was arrested in flagrante delicto and placed in preventive detention.

The case emerged following multiple alerts, which led specialized police units to open an investigation and carry out the operation that resulted in the rescue of the minors.
