Veterinarians and veterinary clinics operating in Quito are now required to register on a new municipal platform designed to improve coordination and oversight.

The system, called ‘Register Your Footprint,’ was launched by the Animal Welfare Unit as part of a broader effort to strengthen planning and collaboration around animal welfare, including work involving urban wildlife.

The initiative aims to bring more structure to how professionals and facilities operate across the city. It is positioned not just as a regulatory step, but as a way to improve coordination, support professional standards, and promote a safer, more organized environment for companion animals.

To complete registration, veterinarians must first create an account on the Quito Services portal, pass an Animal Welfare and Sanitary Notification course offered through the Metropolitan Training Institute, and then fill out the required registration form online.

Veterinary clinics, including consulting rooms, hospitals, and mobile units, must also complete a multi-step process. This includes setting up a Quito Services account, registering the establishment under its declared economic activity, providing details about the legal representative or technical manager, and submitting full information about the facility’s services and characteristics. Supporting documents, such as a sworn statement and photographs, must also be uploaded.

Once submitted, each application is reviewed. Authorities will then confirm approval, request corrections, or reject the registration if requirements are not met.
